Over the holiday weekend....

We decided to get out of the house over the July 4th holiday. Chris had a 4 day weekend so we had time. We went to Roswell to see if there was anything interesting. The UFO museum was fairly cool. Courtney wanted to do more, but umm, well, that's just about all there is to do in Roswell. We did have a good time. Visited the museum and a few gift shops. My favorite thing was the lamp posts that had alien eyes. You can see it in the first photo below, if you look closely. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive one way, we spent about 2 hours in the town, but now we can say we've been to Roswell. I've added a few of the photos taken on our outing. (click the photos to enlarge)

This is the outside of the museum.

As you enter....

This alien was donated from the 1994 movie Roswell.

Since we didn't take as long as expected in Roswell, we also visited Lincoln, where Billy the Kid shot his way out of the courthouse killing 2 lawmen. The photo below is the actual courthouse. Chris is standing by the front door. (you can also see Courtney and her friend to the left, didn't know they were in the photo until I got them back). There are markers on the ground where the 2 lawmen died. Pretty interesting history in this small little town.

This is a photo of the General store in Lincoln.

Just a few miles up the road is Capitan where Smokey the Bear was rescued from a forest fire in Lincoln National Park.

This is a statue resembling little Smokey before he was rescued.

This is just an old house we saw on the side of the road. Thought it was interesting.

And this is a church here in Alamogorodo that I've been wanting to take a picture of for a while.

This sweet little guy was in our front yard when we pulled up in the driveway. I have more photos of him but they are on another roll of film still in the camera.
